In shaping the company's concern for the environment, the Program for Environmental Research and Development was signed with UNICERP (University Center of Cerrado Patrocínio), which has a team of teachers in the courses of Agronomy and Biological Sciences and also a group of trainees of these courses, as well employees of São José and União Farms, who participate directly in the fulfillment of this program.

The Program consists of knowing the flora and fauna present in these properties through proper surveying techniques and that may be needed for existing species in the reserve areas. The work team conducts floristic surveys, carries out recovery projects for areas with low density of native species, and carries out the monitoring of enriched and/or recovered areas. The monitoring of areas of erosion or potential erosion, and developing corrective or preventive actions are also conducted.

The permanent preservation areas (APP) and legal reserve areas are all fenced and identified. The identification of parent plants and collecting fruit is carried out, and the seeds are removed and sown in nursery itself are developed, the seedlings will be planted in the areas of recovery or enrichment. The collected data is stored and disseminated in the form of quarterly reports.

This partnership enables sustainable agriculture in relation to environmental and social issues, which are not measured efforts of those involved to achieve success and that the project will serve as a model for other farmers. It is a joint effort of great magnitude and that can reverse the current environmental commitment and avoid environmental segregation.
